The Roland-Story-St. Edmond dual on Saturday (1/11) at the latter's round-robin dual tournament looked very much like a meeting between the same teams just two nights earlier.
The Norsemen pounded the Gaels, 60-12, in the tournament in Fort Dodge. It was the identical final score to a dual between R-S and St. Ed Thursday (1/09) in Iowa Falls.
Unfortunately, that dual win was the only one that the Norse logged on the day at the St. Edmond event. Roland-Story lost to AGWSR (40-36), Fort Dodge JV (48-33), West Hancock (56-21) and Southeast Valley (45-33).
The Norsemen are now 4-16 on the year. R-S returns to Heart of Iowa Conference competition Thursday night (1/16) with a dual at Nevada. The Norse are 2-2 in conference duals to date with victories over Saydel and PCM and losses to Gilbert and South Hamilton.
The duo of Christian Eslick and Joe Hovick led the way again for Roland-Story as both were undefeated on the day. Both of their 5-0 efforts included four wins by fall and one win by forfeit.
Three R-S wrestlers - Ben Sarver, Eli Thorson and Jimmy Philipsen - were 4-1 on the day at St. Edmond. Thorson and Philipsen both registered three pins and also picked up one forfeit win. Sarver had one win by fall and three forfeit victories.
Jay Sanderson won three times on the day with a pin and a decision victory. Colin Streit won twice, once by fall and once by decision. Caden Sporleder had one win by fall and a forfeit win and Colin Hansen won a 5-1 decision and also grabbed a forfeit win. Max Petzenhauser had one forfeit win on the day.
