Roland-Story played well in a Class 3A regional semifinal volleyball match Tuesday (10/29) in La Porte City, but the opponent - Union - was better.
The 13th-ranked Knights, playing on their home floor, swept the Norse in three sets to advance to Monday's regional final against No. 4 Dike-New Hartford at Grundy Center. Set scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-20.
With the loss, the Norsemen closed out their season with a final overall record of 29-11.
Seniors Amy Rathmacher and Juliann Clark led the R-S attack with seven and six kills, respectively. Madison Geise recorded 20 assists. Four Roland-Story players had 10 or more digs on defense, led by Clark with 13 and Rathmacher with 12. Reagan Barkema led the Norse defense at the net with four blocks.
Union got 20 kills from its standout hitter Belle Weber and the Knights' setter - Allie Driscol - put up 37 assists in just three sets.
