Roland-Story captured a pair of wins on Thursday (6/13) on the first evening of play at the annual Roland Kiwanis softball tournament.
The Norsemen defeated Colo-NESCO, 10-1, and Benton, 5-1, to improve to 6-10 on the season. R-S was leading Mount Vernon, 3-1, in a game Saturday before being rained out. The Norse also lost an additional game Saturday due to the rain (vs. Perry).
Roland-Story scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning against Colo-NESCO and were never seriously challenged. The Norsemen added two runs in the second and four more in the fourth.
Emily Berggren and Allisyn Coghlan each had two hits and Madison Geise drove in three runs.
Against Benton, the Norsemen scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth to win comfortably. Reagan Schmitz had two RBIs for Roland-Story.
