Twenty-five points in a row is going to hard to beat any night and that was true Monday (1/13) as Roland-Story went on such a run on its way to a 55-33 non-conference girls basketball win over Southeast Valley.
The victory improved the Norse, ranked 7th in the state in Class 3A, to 10-1 on the season. R-S returns to action with a Friday night (1/17) Heart of Iowa Conference home game against South Hamilton.
The Norsemen's most recently scheduled league game against North Polk on Jan. 10 was postponed by winter weather concerns and rescheduled for Jan. 30. Roland-Story is 5-1 in HOIC games to date.
Against Southeast Valley, the Norse broke away from a 2-2 tie with 25 consecutive points for a 27-2 lead early in the second quarter. It was 20-2 after the first period. Roland-Story led 33-9 at halftime and built the lead to 33 points, 48-15, late in the third quarter. The Norsemen dialed back the defense and rested starters the rest of the way.
Reagan Barkema led a balanced scoring attack with 11 points. Madi Morton and Reece Johnson each had 10. A total of 10 R-S players scored in the game.
