After trailing by 11 points in the first quarter, Roland-Story turned the tables on visiting Heart of Iowa Conference foe PCM and whipped the Mustangs 65-47 in boys basketball action Friday (1/03) in Story City.
The win improved the Norsemen to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in conference games. Roland-Story returns to action Tuesday (1/07) with a non-conference home game against Iowa Falls-Alden.
PCM led the Norse 11-0 out of the gate Friday and was still up nine at the end of the first quarter, 17-8. R-S closed the gap to three points by halftime, 32-29. Roland-Story made seven three-point field goals in the first half to account for 21 of their 29 points.
The Norsemen stayed hot from three-point range in the second half with Nolan Faber leading the way. He buried four three-pointers in the third quarter alone, including the go ahead shot to make it 35-34. It was 50-36 R-S by the end of the period and the Norse extended their lead to 18 by game's end.
Roland-Story ended the night 13-of-32 (40.6%) from three-point range.
Faber and Dylan Ihle each scored 15 points for R-S. Adam McIlrath added 14 and Sam Skaar 13. Ihle had five assists and Skaar collected 11 rebounds.
