A quick start was about all that went right for Roland-Story Monday night (1/13) in a 59-36 non-conference boys basketball loss to Southeast Valley.

The defeat left the Norsemen at 6-4 overall.  R-S is scheduled to return to Heart of Iowa Conference play Friday (1/17) with a home game against South Hamilton.  The Norse had a league game vs. North Polk postponed on Friday (1/10) due to weather concerns.  It has been rescheduled for Jan. 30.

In the loss to Southeast Valley, it was Roland-Story that jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead.  But the Jaguars, with just one loss on the season and an impressive win over South Hamilton to their credit, got things turned around.  SEV went on a 17-0 run to turn its early deficit into a 19-8 lead.  The Jags were up 29-17 at halftime and 44-26 through three quarters.  SEV led by as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter.

Adam McIlrath led Roland-Story scorers with eight points and also claimed a team-high eight rebounds.  Nolan Faber had four assists.
