The Norsemen cross country teams placed 3rd and 6th at the South Hamilton Invitational on Thursday.

The boys finished in 3rd place out of 12 teams with 93 points, one point behind Nevada which finished second. Sixth ranked East Marshall won the boys title with 62 points. The boys' times and places were: 3. Seth Johnson 17:49, 5. Sam Titus 17:59, 6. Jacob Morris 18:01, 17. Christian Selby 18:15, 62. Brian Lunn 20:14, 63. Cameron Naglak 20:15. Johnson, Titus and Morris each were medal winners, with Johnson and Morris each posting personal best 5K times.

The girls placed 6th out of 13 teams with 184 points, finishing behind South Hamilton (5th), West Marshall, Nevada, Gilbert and first place Hudson. The girls' times and places were: 13. Jenna Morris 17:12, 19. Mariah Keech 17:34, 36. Rebekah Titus 18:25, 46.
Elizabeth Kirkpatrick  18:53, 70. Rachel Glaser 23:08.

The teams have been battling to stay healthy lately with both the varsity boys and girls teams having two of their top six runners out with illness. "The boys race would have been pretty close if we had everyone healthy," commented Coach Rick Stover. "We'll need everyone healthy in our next two meets if we hope to contend for the team titles."

Next up is the Heart of Iowa Conference Meet held at the ISU cross country course in Ames on Monday October 12th. The first race is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
