![]() Norsemen upset in district openerPosted: 07/12/2009 - by Paul ClarkIt's hard to beat the same team three times in one season. That old sports cliche rang true Saturday night as North Polk downed Roland-Story, 3-1, in Class 2-A district first round play in Story City. The Norsemen had beaten the Comets twice during the regular season.
Roland-Story got its only run in the top of the first inning as Gunnar Wyatt doubled and later scored on a Jim Pepper ground ball. The 1-0 lead held up until the third inning when North Polk scored three runs on three hits, an error, a hit batsman and two wild pitches. R-S loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but could not score. The season ends at 20-11 for the Norse. North Polk improved to 10-17 and plays Gilbert in a second-round district game Tuesday night in Story City. -ARCHIVES- |
