Posted: 06/26/2009 - by Paul Clark

Jefferson-Scranton defeated Roland-Story, 7-6, in Heart of Iowa Conference baseball on Thursday.  The Norse rallied from a 7-2 deficit and had the tying run on third base when the game ended.  The loss dropped R-S to 14-5 overall and 8-3 in conference play.

Zeb Hammes hit two home runs for Roland-Story, including a three-run shot in the bottom of the seventh inning to draw the Norsemen within a run.  Hammes also hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning after J-S had jumped out to a 5-0 lead.  Hammes also doubled in the sixth.  Gunnar Wyatt had two hits, including an RBI double, and Trent Muhlenberg singled twice as the 2-3-4 hitters in the R-S line-up accounted for all seven of the teams hits.
