![]() Roland-Story splits Sat. home gamesPosted: 06/07/2009 - by Paul ClarkBallard avenged an earlier loss to Roland-Story on Saturday in the annual Scandanavian Days baseball tournament in Story City. But the Norsemen bounced back from the loss to down rival Gilbert and salvage a 1-1 split in the day’s action.
The Bombers from Ballard were indeed bombers in Saturday’s opener, winning 14-5. R-S had won at Ballard earlier this season, but the visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first and rolled from there. The Norsemen were down just 5-2 through three innings, but Ballard put up five in the top of the fourth to blow it open with a commanding 10-2 lead. In its second game of the day, Roland-Story gave up a run to Gilbert in the first and still trailed, 1-0, through four innings. But the Norsemen got their bats going in the late innings, scoring four in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh for a 7-1 triumph. -ARCHIVES- |
