Norse lose big at Woodward

Posted: 06/02/2009 - by Paul Clark

Roland-Story had one of those nights Monday in Heart of Iowa Conference baseball, losing 11-1 at Woodward-Granger.

The Norse actually led, 1-0, through three innings before the wheels came off and they lost for the first time this season.  W-G scored two in the fourth, seven in the fifth and two in the sixth to win the shortened game on the 10-run rule.

“Woodward has a good team this year,” said R-S head coach Chris Hill.  “They had our number from the beginning, and hit well the entire game.  We made a lot of mistakes this game that took us farther out of it.  In my three years here this was the most disappointed I have ever been after a game.  We did not play the style of baseball that we have to play to be successful.”
