Norse come through for first win

Posted: 06/04/2009 - by Paul Clark

Looking for its first win of the year, the Roland-Story softball team broke through in a big way with a 10-3 non-conference victory over West Marshall Wednesday evening in Roland.  The Norse improved to 1-3 on the year with the win.

Danielle Mott
was 4-for-4 at the plate to lead an R-S offensive attack that generated 13 hits.  Kayla Nielsen, Ashley Greff and Rachel Hagedorn all had two hits apiece for the Norse.  Sarah Grimsley was the winning pitcher for Roland-Story.

“It was good to get our confidence and start playing ball a little bit,” said Norse head coach Stan Oppedal.

Roland-Story will host North Polk Thursday night and Ames on Friday evening.  NorsemenNetwork.com will broadcast the Ames game live.  You can read more about R-S softball in next week’s edition of the Story City Herald.
