![]() R-S posts impressive win at BallardPosted: 05/31/2009 - by Paul ClarkAfter being rained out on Tuesday, Roland-Story faced Class 3-A Ballard in high school baseball Saturday in Slater. The game was worth the wait as the Norsemen triumphed 4-3 to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
R-S was impressive in its first road game of the year at Ballard. With the game tied 2-2 in the fifth, Bryce Sampson delivered an RBI single that plated Gunnar Wyatt and gave the Norse a 3-2 lead. Roland-Story picked up another run in the top of the seventh on an RBI double by Zeb Hammes that scored Trent Muhlenberg. That made it 4-2 and the Norsemen needed the insurance run as Ballard scored once in the bottom of the seventh before pitcher Taylor Booth closed the door on the rally for Roland-Story. Booth was the winning pitcher, working the final three innings of the game. Jim Pepper started and threw four innings for R-S. Muhlenberg led the offense, going 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI. Roland-Story is scheduled to play at Woodward-Granger on Monday. For more on Roland-Story baseball, read the next edition of the Story City Herald. -ARCHIVES- |
