Norse in 5th place at state golf

The Roland-Story boys golf team stood in fifth place in the team standings at the midway point of the Class 2A state tournament in Panora. The Norse had an 18-hole team score of 341 on the Lake Panorama National Resort course on Friday. That was 15 strokes behind the team leader, Carroll Kuemper, and just four shots out of fourth place.
Senior Jordan Gustafson led the way for R-S with a 79 on Friday, putting him in sole possession of sixth place in the individual standings. He finished the day four shots behind the leader, Aaron Ahrendson of IKM-Mannining, who shot a 75.
Also for the Norsemen, junior Jon Meyer shot an 86, junior Tanner Birchmeier and sophomore Kendall Gustafson carded 88s, senior Jon Braathun had a 102 and freshman Jace Klein a 104.
The state tournament concludes Saturday at Lake Panorama National Resort.
