Overall, three relay teams scored a total of 16 points for the Norse at Drake Stadium.
The 4x100 relay team of Adam Johnson, Keaton Mathis, Bryce Sampson and Bryttan Thompson took gold on Saturday for R-S. The Norsemen foursome blazed to a winning time of 43.45 seconds. That was over a half second faster than runner-up Eddyville-Blakesburg (43.96). Roland-Story had run the fourth-fastest time in the prelims, 44.11, before turning it on in the finals on Saturday. The victory earned R-S ten team points. Roland-Story placed fifth in the finals of the 4x110 shuttle hurdle relay. The quartet of Andrew Henning, Matt Swanson, Zeb Hammes and Bryce Sampson timed in 1:00.07 in the finals. The Norse shaved a tenth of their qualifying time from Thursday and moved up from eighth-fastest in the prelims to fifth-fastest in the finals. The fifth-place finish was good for four team points. In the 4x200 relay, the same foursome that took the 4x100 gold medal placed seventh for R-S, netting two team points. Johnson, Mathis, Sampson and Thompson timed in 1:32.11. -ARCHIVES- |
