![]() Good day for Morgan at state meetPosted: 05/22/2009 - by Paul ClarkRoland-Story's Ana Morgan placed fifth in the 400-meter dash and qualified for the finals in two other events Thursday at the high school state track meet in Des Moines.
Morgan won her section of the Class 2A 400, timing in 59.29 seconds. She was in the middle section of three based on qualifying times. Her time was good enough for fifth place to score four team points for R-S on the first day of competition at Drake Stadium. All four runners who placed ahead of Morgan were in the fastest of the three sections and included event winner Hannah Willms of Dike-New Hartford and North Polk's Casie Christensen, who placed fourth just .12 ahead of Morgan. In preliminary heats of the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, Morgan qualified for the finals with the seventh-fastest prelim time in both events. She timed in 12.84 seconds in the 100 and 25.98 seconds in the 200. The finals of the 100 meters and 200 meters will be in Saturday's session five at Drake. -ARCHIVES- |
