Morgan qualifies for state in three events

Senior Ana Morgan won one event and qualified for state in a total of three events to lead Roland-Story at the Class 2-A girls regional track meet Friday (5/15) in Eagle Grove.
Morgan won the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:01.14. She also placed second in the 200 meters in a time of 27.08 seconds and Morgan was third in the 100-meter dash final with a time of 13.02 seconds. She will advance to the state track meet in Des Moines in all three events. The state meet is this weekend, Thursday through Saturday (May 21-23) at Drake Stadium.
Roland-Story placed fourth in the district team standings with 80 points.
A pair of Roland-Story girls placed third in individual field events at the district meet Friday. Maddie Oliver took third place in the shot put with a top mark of 33-4. Amber Renaud was third in the high jump with a top height of 4-8. Two Norse girls also placed fourth individually in their events. Rebecca Maughan was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:13.18 and Rachel Hagedorn took fourth place in the long jump with a best effort of 14-4 ½.
Other individual place winners and point scorers for R-S at the district meet were: Kylie Anderson, 6th, 3000-meter run, 12:34.61; Sophie Howe, 6th, high jump, 4-6; Mykel Carlson, 7th, 400-meter hurdles, 1:15.53; Anna Bruns, 8th, 400-meter dash, 1:08.46; Abigail Titus, 8th, 1500-meter run, 5:40.64; Rebekah Titus, 8th, 3000-meter run, 13:07.88.
In the relay events, a pair of fourth-place finishes were tops for the Norsemen. The 4x200 team of Cortney Riesberg, Amber Renaud, Lindsey Hammes and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick placed fourth in a time of 1:56.50. And the 4x800 foursome of A. Titus, Bruns, Britny Halleland and Jenna Morris took fourth place in 10:43.28.
